Cancellations in 2021

Due to coronavirus restrictions the cancellations of concerts and opera productions have continued into 2021. Rattle me a tenor

Music videos

Valdemar has released two new music videos recorded during the pandemic as part of the Danish Arts Foundation’s initiative: “United by the Arts” (“Sammen om Kunsten”). The videos contain music by Claudio Monteverdi (1567-1643) and Domenico Maria Melli (-1609). The videos are directed by Anne Preussel and Valdemar is being accompanied by a group of leading early music specialists from across Europe. More cancellations due to Covid-19

This summer, Valdemar was supposed to appear in a leading role in the world premiere of a new opera in Copenhagen, but due to the outbreak of Covid-19 this production has been postponed to 2021. In September and October, Valdemar was supposed to sing the title role in Mozart’s opera Mitridate in Bilbao, but this production has been cancelled in its entirety due to Covid-19. Coronavirus cancellations

Handel’s Messiah

Valdemar will focus mainly on CD-recordings this Christmas. He will however also find time to appear in Handel’s Messiah in Copenhagen Cathedral as well as in a semi-staged version of this oratorio – also in Copenhagen.

World premiere in Dortmund

Valdemar appears in one of the leading roles in a world premiere of the opera “Nova – imperfecting perfection” by acclaimed Austrian composer Franz Danksagmüller. The opera explores the concept of virtual reality and it is a collaboration between Danksagmüller, stage director Kay Link, multimedia producer Oleg Prodeus and the Oscar nominated film director Virgil Widrich.   For more information: http://www.danksagmueller.com/#/sec35  

Summer of solo recitals

Valdemar will perform several solo recitals throughout Europe in the upcoming months. The concerts will take place in Istanbul, Berlin, Basel and Svendborg (Denmark), and they will mainly consist of opera arias from the belcanto repertoire as well as arias from the baroque music. Bach’s Passions

In recent years Valdemar has made a name for himself as a Bach Evangelist – the leading role in J.S. Bach’s Passions – and he has performed the Matthäus-Passion (St Matthew Passion) in Sweden, Denmark, Norway, United Kingdom, Switzerland, Iceland, Italy and Germany. Previously Valdemar has chosen to focus on only one Bach Passion at a time, but in 2019, for the first time ever, Valdemar will appear as the Evangelist in both the Matthäus-Passion and the Johannes-Passion (St John Passion) within the same Easter period.     For more information, see Performances       In this live recording from … Continued

Stage director in Hamburg

Not only is Valdemar in the middle of a flourishing tenor career, he is also an accomplished stage director. In February he will be directing an opera/cabaret show at the Hamburger Kammeroper, while also singing the leading role. The cabaret ensemble Kurt Weill Factory perform opera arias, lieder and cabaret songs from the 1920s & ’30s and melt it all together in one spectacular, funny, sexy and touching cabaret show.
